Abstract:

In this talk, I will discuss recent progress on and open questions about two interrelated aspects of the quantum behavior of atomic gases at very low temperatures: 1. The effective description of the gas beyond the mean field (Gross-Pitaevskii) regime. 2. Effects of finite temperatures below the phase transition point.
